Honestly this 4runner has been great but this back hatch is a stupid. Pop off the black cover using a plastic trim tool. Every time i opened the rear hatch on my '07 4runner, so i found this replacement. Coverioodng on inside, appearing to be covering the entire back hatch. To stop it, press again.

The hatch door can be opened (and window rolled down) by inserting the key. Toyota had the genius idea of not including a switch/button on the inside, so you're out of luck. This morning the hatch opened fine, rear glass defrost and wiper worked ok. The door will unlock and window will begin to open.
